Leonardo Da Vinci's Inventions

Throughout his life Leonardo Da Vinci created many inventions as well as paintings. The first and most well known is "The Flying Machine". Da Vinci  based the flying machine on winged animals such as birds and bats. This was the inspiration behind both the theory and the design of the flying machine as it went through its two versions. upon testing the Flying Machine Da Vinci found that it could not remain airborne for very long. He was able to devise a way to keep the Machine airborne by using the heat from fire, however due to the health risk involved it was never full implemented.

Another invention was the worlds first Tank or Armoured Car as it was known to some. Using his knowledge of Engineering Da Vinci was able to create a war machine which was capable of using a large arsenal of weapons. The Tank was designed with a outer shell almost like a turtle's, with angled edges to deflect enemy gun fire. It was originally designed to be powered by a crew who would turn cranks to get the wheels to move. It had cannons placed with a 360 degree view and a sighting turret on top to co-ordinate the fire. The Tank was never built due to a design flaw in the design, which prevented the Tank from moving forward. Many at the time believed that this had been done on purpose by Da Vinci to prevent its construction.
